Tired time

My job makes me busy and don't have time to knit at all. Every early morning has to catch my friend at campus so that i could go to the office together and always go home lately in night. This kind of reguler activity really makes me tired. Meanwhile in weekend, sometimes i have to accompany someone or i was still have schedule for working long hour. I don't think that i still have my own time to be alone. Huaa such a boring life

Finally, I need rest and doing my hobbies :P

Josephine motive scarf

Currently i'm doing 2 projects: continue my 3/4 sleeves cardigan and pinky scarf. I took the pattern from josephine top lace to make it as scarf. After saw the final project of josephine top which belongs to my friends, i think that the pattern is nice to be a scarf pattern so i decide to make one. I started the CO when i was on duty in the airport. I was bored at that time because it's so crowd and i was alone there.

Here is the piece:

Geeze. I tried to make a bargain with the shop assistant and i made it to normal price. Lucky me. Finally i was bought 5 balls of it. Yippiee. But..... Upps.. the yarns are under arrest.. Huwaa.. =( cause it's for my birthday gift. My BF said that it is such a weird gift but i don't care :P

Discontinued Sirdar Pure Cotton 4 ply

If you've ever used Sirdar Pure Cotton 4 ply than you will know that this yarn is worth it to buy since it's great to make any apparels. But the bad news is it will be discontinued. The last stock that available in the store was the white color. 2 days ago i made a call to the store, and the owner said that their store has only 6 balls in stock.

Actually last 2 week i already been there to buy it but only available the white one and i didn't believe that it'll be discontinued. So i tried to wait several days and figured out who know's they will have new stock.

I'm gonna being there again this Saturday. Maybe i'll buy the last stock if their still available.

Lace Ribbon Scarf

Finally, i could finish this Lace Ribbon Scarf. It takes quite a long time to finish it because i couldn't do it everyday.

The material that i used are 1 and half skeins of Sirdar Pure Cotton for blue colour, 3.5mm size 60 cm circular needle, tapestry needle.

For finishing, just do the blocking by using lukewarm water and dry it in my room with full AC ^^

This scarf is made in order to fulfill my friend order (birthday gift).

Premier baby shoes

Here we are....Baby shoes. Actually long days ago i wanted to make one as a trial because it's cute but i didn't do it because i was more interested to another patterns. But now i have a new born niece (my cousin's baby), i thought to make it as a trial. It's kinda big size for a new born. Remembering that the baby size won't last long so i made it as bigger size. It's length about 12 cm. I took the pattern from Thata Pang book. I don't know whether the shoes could be weared or not. I hope it fits.

Finally i have a handphone case. I made it by using crochet technique. It's simple one. At first i'd like to put some decoration on it but i realized that the yarn for cross-stich is unavailable so i decided the result just like this.

Knitting Tips

I's taken from 501 Knitting Secrets educational series:
  • To keep from losing your cable needle between twist rows, try sticking the needle into your watchband.
  • Knit a little stuffed ball, like a small pincushion, and hang it on a cord around your neck. Now you have a tool to hold tapestry needles and cable needles when they are not in use.
  • Because stockinette stitches are short and wide, designs charted on a square grid will be distorted when they are knit. Instead of using square graph paper, use knitter's graph paper, which has a rectangular grid. If you can't find knitter's graph paper, use a computer spreadsheet program to create and print a rectangular grid.
  • Drop-shoulder sweaters require a shorter sleeve length than usual. To figure the sleeve length needed for a drop-shoulder sweater, measure the intended wearer from the center back neck to the wrist.
Divide the finished chest measurement of the sweater by four, and subtract this number from the first number. The difference is the sleeve length.
    For example:
Measurement from center back neck to wrist: 29 inches.
    Finished chest measurement: 46 inches
    46 divided by 4 = 11.5
    29 inches - 11.5 = 17.5-inch sleeve length.
  • Learn to "read" your knitting. Understanding how stitches relate to one another, and being able to see what you are supposed to do next, makes knitting easier. You will not have to rely on row-by-row instructions, and you will be able to recognize when the pattern contains a mistake, or when you have made a mistake.
  • If you are modifying a pattern, write down your changes. You may decide later to duplicate the same garment; if you do not write it down, you will not remember what you did.
  • Even if you have worked a swatch and have gotten the gauge to match the one called for in the pattern, check your work from time to time. The gauge on the garment may change as you work and become more comfortable with the knitting.
  • When you are approaching the end of your ball of yarn and start to wonder how many rows you can still get from it, fold the remaining yarn in half and tie a loose overhand knot at the halfway point. Knit a row. If you reach the knot before you finish the row, you will not have enough yarn to complete a second row. If, however, you finish the row before reaching the knot, you can complete another row with the remaining yarn.

Beginner Knitter's Life

Knitter, that's what i called to myself nowadays. I started to learn knitting about 5 months ago. As a beginner you can learn from knitting help . You can download both basic techniques and advanced techiques videos.

Well, there is 2 kind of knitting here. First, by using 2 needles usually called knitting/breien. Second, by using 1 needle or hook usually called crochet/hakken.
The one that i learned first was knitting with 2 needles. I learned the basic skills, knit and purl. With this knit and purl, i already can make a scarf, blanket, sweater, etc which patterns are very simple. Since i am a kind person who gets bored easily, i searched a lace pattern for my first project, scarf.

Here's my 1st scarf result:
